Boise area schools are some of the finest in the state. Several new schools have been built in the past five years. This is due to the tremendous growth the valley has experienced over the past ten years. Some of the communities have alternative schools available to their students. These schools serve as an alternative to regular school and stress trades and produce potential employment opportunities for the students. These schools are a great benefit to many troubled students and serve the community well.

Two are private facilities associated with churches and one is a state university. The University of Idaho also has an extended facility here on the BSU campus with studies in engineering. There are two junior colleges within 120 miles of Boise with one located in Twin Falls and the other in Ontario, Oregon. There are other Idaho colleges and universities to the north and east.
